Please bear with me as I update this page!

I am just getting started but you will sometimes see an [E] before links I’ve experimented with. For my full analysis, simply click on the [E], which will take you to the corresponding blog post. My rating system for each experiment is as follows:

[E] = Recommended     [E] = Use caution     [E] = Not recommended     [E] = Results not in

Now, there are number of ways to get feedback on your writing. Here’s the list:

Reviewers (blog databases)

  • Blog.BooksontheKnob.org:
  • Blogmetrics.org: Not a great site but you can search on “book reviewers” and get their site rank to see if they have enough traffic to be worth pursuing.
  • BlogNation.com:
  • BlogTalkRadio.com: Book review podcasts.
  • BookBloggerDirectory.Wordpress.com:
  • BookBloggerList.com:
  • BookLookBloggers.com: You can’t search on category (like sci fi), making the site useless. Maybe signing up gives more options. I didn’t bother.
  • The Indie Book Blog Database:
  • MandyBoles.com: Directory of book bloggers using Pinterest by Mandy Boles.
  • StepbyStepSelfPublishing.net: Comprehensive list of active book bloggers.

I suggest not only visiting reviewer’s web sites to get a feel for what they’re looking for, but their Amazon.com,  GoodReads, LibraryThing, and other social media accounts as well. You might be able to write something like: I really liked your review/I see you’re a fan of Douglas Adams’ Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy on GoodReads. I think you’ll enjoy my book, ___ …

You can also try quid-pro-quo reviews with other authors but be careful there. Honesty, transparency, and integrity are key.

Searching Twitter using hashtags to find possible reviwers is an option. Try #bookreviews, #bookreviewer, #bookblogger.

Misc.

  • Speculations: Formerly a place for science fiction, fantasy, and horror writers to increase their presence. New site currently under construction.
